    Ramoji Krian Universe Creates Its Footprint in Hyderabad through RKU Voyage

Hyderabad, June 29:Ramoji Krian Universe (RKU), which is in the advanced stages of evolving into a State Private University, set its first academic foot by conducting a seminar at Prasad Media Lab in Hyderabad today. This student interaction programme, titled RKU Voyage was inaugurated by Prof. Ujjwal K Chowdhury, the Director of RKU and a stalwart in academics.

Shri Ramesh Prasad, the Managing Director of the Prasad Group of Companies graced the event as the Chief Guest. Shri Prasad congratulated Shri Ramoji Rao, the Chairman of Ramoji Film City (RFC) and Ramoji Krian Universe for coming up with RKU, a new-age academic initiative.

The event was inaugurated with the bestowing of the RKU Young Achiever’s Award by Shri Ramesh Prasad. RJ Vidya Sivalenka from 93.5 RED FM was given the Hyderabad chapter of the coveted award for the year 2017 for her contribution to the field of radio. Ms. Komal Aggarwal, Mr. Hamza Ali and their team; the founders of Cubic Production’s initiative Common Sense Kee Baat; were the other recipient of the award for producing short films.

The next part of the programme began with the introduction of RKU faculty members and the programmes offered by RKU. Prof. Chowdhury said “RKU offers job oriented professional courses in Films, Media, Animation, Design, Fashion, Gaming, Tourism, HR Management and Retail. The One-Year PG Diploma course comprises of ten months of intensive training followed by two-months of internship in relevant organizations within or outside India. RKU will also provide placement assistance to all the students after the successful completion of their courses.”

Prof. Jatla Venkat Swami Naidu, the head of RKU’s Centre for Telugu Film-making & Acting Skills said, “Our Chairman Shri Ramoji Rao’s vision is to take the Telugu Film industry to excellence by training more and more talented youths in film making courses as the Telugu film industry is one of the biggest film industries in the country.”

Dr. Kaushik Duttasharma, the head of RKU’s Centre for Theatre & Acting Skills said “RKU provides courses in line with today’s cutting-edge technology. With the top-of- the-line faculty members and state-of- the-art infrastructure, RKU is a step ahead of the peer training institutes. The biggest advantage for a student studying at RKU is getting introduced to some of the biggest names in the creative fields of Media and Entertainment.”

Prof. Ajmera Mohan Singh, the head of RKU’s Centre for Art Direction & Set Design Skills and Centre for Textiles & Fashion Skills said “Today’s world is moving from a real realm to a virtual realm. Thus, we are increasingly becoming the consumers of cultural and aesthetic products. Therefore, RKU is providing specialized courses in order to fulfil the need of the current media industry.”

Prof. Amrita Chakraborty, the head of RKU’s Applied Research & Skills Development said, “In order to grow any business, it is important for an organization to know about its customers and competitors.” Citing the case of research across various fields such as Films, Print Media, Electronic Media, Marketing and Business; Prof. Chakraborty added that Research is one of the highly paid professions across various industries, and there is a dearth of skilled professionals in the sector.

The last part of the event saw a one-on- one discussion between the audience and the RKU Faculty Members.

It is pertinent to mention that RKU would conduct its first round of selection for its PG Diploma programmes on the 30 th instant followed by the second round on the 10 th of July, 2017.
