A leading media academic in the country, Prof. Chowdhury has spearheaded some of the finest media institutes in the country and taken them to newer heights. Prof. Chowdhury has also been a Dean at Symbiosis International University in Pune and Amity University in Mumbai. He also acted as the Dean at Whistling Woods, Mumbai. Additionally, Prof. Chowdhury has been a Media Advisor with the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and the World Health Organization (WHO), India. Prof. Chowdhury has also supported and mentored a number of amateur movies, some of which went on to bag awards at national and international film festivals. Having made sixteen (16) documentaries while working for the World Health Organization (WHO) and The Nippon Foundation; Prof. Chowdhury has been more than active in the Green Battles (GB) seminars and conferences in the country and abroad.
Professor – A renowned screenplay writer and an acclaimed author, Prof. Kumar boasts of an illustrious career spanning four decades. Prof. Kumar has worked across several prestigious institutions including FTII, MICA, SNDT Women’s University, ATN and Home TV. He has also directed almost 50 short films and has three novels to his credit. Prof. Kumar also has numerous published short stories in his name.
Yash Chavan has over 30 years of experience in the edutainment industry. He has worked in marketing and production with MIT School of Film & Television in Pune, Annapurna International School of Film & Media in Hyderabad, Maverick Productions in Mumbai and Omnix International in Dubai, where he looked after digital filmmaking and post production. His reorganization and media technology strategies have created organizational success in a variety of businesses. While doing project management of broadcasting systems, he traversed the entire cycle of the word ‘media’ right from idea generation to story boarding to moving picture to digitization of audio-video content to media asset management to multi-platform broadcasting to reverse tele-cine to archiving to retrieval. He has consistently explored cutting edge pre-sales social marketing and distribution techniques, many of which are underutilized worldwide.
Associate Professor – With a doctoral degree in Folk Theatre from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata, Dr. Kaushik Duttasharma is a name to reckon with in the field of Indian television. With a cumulative experience of nearly three decades and having worked as the Associate Chief Producer of ETV Network, Dr. Duttasharma was instrumental in making ETV Bangla the most popular Bengali GEC. Dr. Duttasharma also served as a lecturer in the Department of English at Arunachal University.
Associate Professor – Prof. Jatla Venkata Swami Naidu, popularly known as Jatla, did his Post-Graduate Diploma in Cinema with a specialization in Film Direction from FTII. Prof. Naidu has made numerous short films, documentaries and feature films in Telugu and got placed in the Limca Book of Records, the Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema and the Manorama Year Book. He has more than 35 years experience in film- making and teaching.
Assistant Professor – With a cumulative experience of more than a couple of decades in multiple genres including television journalism, programme direction, production, creative direction and animation; Prof. Hussain has worked with prestigious brands such as Doordarshan, Star Plus, Sahara India, Zee Cinema and ETV Networks. Someone who loves to draw cartoons, create animations and paint; Prof. Hussain has also taught at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad.
Assistant Professor – A pass-out from the prestigious SRFTI in Calcutta, Prof. Sandipp has worked on numerous feature films, television programmes, commercials and music videos. His latest film ‘Rang’ (2014) in Tulu language was a blockbuster. Prof. Sandipp believes that his interest in Urdu poetry, Bengali literature and Hindustani classical music enriches his understanding of the craft of cinematography.
Assistant Professor – With a cumulative experience of more than 13 years, Subhrajit has two Master’s Degrees in Communication, one from Symbiosis in Pune and the other from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. A seasoned Public Relations, Corporate Communications and Digital Marketing professional, he has worked in organizations such as Ogilvy, Mahindra & Mahindra, Accenture, and DuPont with leadership and cross-functional teams across various countries in Asia, Europe, the United States, the Middle East and North Africa. Subhrajit was granted the prestigious J.N. Tata (2009) and Sir Dorabji Tata (2009) scholarships instituted by the Tata Trust enabling Indian students to pursue higher studies internationally. With a keen interest in advancing education, he has trained communications students and corporate professionals over the years.
Assistant Professor – A journalism postgraduate from the prestigious Symbiosis Institute of Media Communication in Pune, Sunayan earlier worked with renowned organizations such as The Times of India and Reuters News. He is a UGC-NET qualified scholar and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in film studies from Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University. He is also the Associate Editor of The Cinemaholic.
Assistant Professor – A seasoned professional in the field of Research, Training and Counselling; Amrita has worked as a Senior Market Research Analyst at Deloitte. She has also worked for other prestigious organizations like PDPU Gandhinagar, NIIT and IMS. She did her M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication from Tripura Central University and PGDBA in Marketing from SCDL, Pune.
Assistant Professor – Having worked with studios like FutureWorks, Prime Focus, Cinesite and Framestore to name a few; Neha’s expertise lies in post production. She has handled digital intermediate, editing, sound, VFX, stereoscopy for various international and domestic feature films. Some of the films she has worked on are ‘John Carter’ (2012), ‘Titanic 3D’ (2012), ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ (2013), ‘Cloud Atlas’ (2012), ‘Pixels’ (2015), ‘Rakhta Charitra’ (2010), Tamas (Restoration), ‘Ek Villain’ (2014), ‘Phantom’ (2015), ‘Yaan’ (2014) to name a few.
Assistant Professor – Neha is a storyteller who believes that people around the world have an innate desire to dream, share and express. She is a psychology graduate with masters in Indian culture and an alumnus of FTII, Pune. She believes in participatory media in transforming contemporary societies through collective creation and community engagement. After becoming a mother, Neha’s interest in sustainable and alternative lifestyle deepened. She blogs actively and likes to live in green spaces while mixing minimalism with her bohemian spirit.
Assistant Professor- A writer, sound-artist, traveller, and translator, Dr. Shubhasree Bhattacharyya specializes in artistic research, culture, and sound studies. A JU-SYLFF fellow, she completed her PhD in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University. Shubhasree has been a visiting fellow to Howard University and York University. An Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre grantee, she made a documentary film on songs of peddle husking. She has worked with the University of Delhi and Shiv Nadar University and has been a post-doctoral archival fellow with the India Foundation for the Arts. Shubhasree takes special interest in collaborative projects in the New Media and is currently curating an interactive virtual exhibition on work sounds.
Assistant Professor – Sayak has had a short but vivid career in designing with more than three years in corporate designing and nearly two years in education. He has earlier worked with Symbiosis and Amity University. Sayak’s works spread across many areas like digital designing for print, designing for online publications, search engine optimization, designing for corporates and movie posters, cover designing, clothing designing and many more. He has two masters, one in management and the other in mass communication.
Faculty – A passionate and performance-oriented communication professional with over 20 years of diverse experience in India, Middle East & Europe; Milind Kulkarni has worked for a number of Blue chip companies including Kinetic Engineering, Grasim Industries, Ashok Leyland, Volvo Trucks India, GMMCO (Caterpillar) and OTE Group (Oman). Milind specializes in creating and communicating a positive image amongst multiple stakeholder groups (public, industry, government, employees and investors).
Associate Professor – Joy Chowdhury is an eminent Leadership Development professional, a motivator and an emotional intelligence coach. A learning and development professional with a rich experience of more than 14 years in the training industry, Joy is a management graduate with a masters in psychology. A strategic leader and project management consultant in areas of learning and development, Joy had been a Guest Lecturer with multiple universities across Europe and the US. Interactions with people from various countries have enriched him with more understanding of cultural differences and psychological perspectives of the same. He has had fruitful stints with Infosys, IBM and Cerner Corporation.
Associate Professor – Anand Bhisey is a media professional with nearly three decades of experience in newspapers, news channels, internet and e-learning sectors. He has contributed to major media outlets like The Independent, The Pioneer, Maharashtra Herald, The Hitavada, Dainik Bhaskar, The Sunday Observer and rediff.com. He has been a visiting faculty for news reporting, editing, page-making, QuarkXpress and new media at RTM Nagpur University’s Department of Mass Communication and affiliated colleges, and for Business Communication at the International Institute of Fashion Design (iNIFD). Associate Professor – Dr. Amit Aggrawal has around a couple of decades of experience in the Higher Education and Corporate Sectors. He has earlier worked with prestigious organizations like National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Businessworld and C.K. Birla Group. Assistant Professor – Mukhtiyar Hussein Shaikh earned a post-graduate degree in Industrial Design from the famed National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad. He worked as an Industrial Designer for three years in the areas of designing home appliances, educational products and products related to schools. He has conducted design awareness programmes for industry and craft clusters. Before joining RKU; he worked with the National institute of Design for a couple of years.
Assistant Professor – Dharmendra Shashtry is an experienced academic in the field of media communication and technology. With an M.Phil. and M.A. in Mass Communication, Dharmendra has worked across multiple prestigious organizations like St. Xavier’s College of Management & Technology in Patna and Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University in Patna
Assistant Professor – With a master’s degree in mass communication from the University of Hyderabad, Ajmera is in the advanced stages of finishing his Ph.D. in Film Studies and Visual Culture from The English and Foreign Languages University in Hyderabad. A career academic, Ajmera has worked with leading organizations like ICAT Design and Media College in Hyderabad, CREO Valley School of Film and Television in Bangalore and The Sagar School in Delhi.
Associate Professor – Varunan, being a seasoned academician and entrepreneur with more than a decade of experience in teaching and heading institution like ICAT Design & Media College, has his expertise and research interest in the fields of Animation, Game Design & Development, Virtual reality and Augmented Reality. Varunan did his masters in Management and has a teaching certification from Birmingham City University (UK).
Instructor – With a postgraduate diploma in film and television from SRFTII in Kolkata, Saibal Ray happens to be a Dolby Scholarship Holder. Having published three fictions, Saibal has worked with prestigious organizations such as SRFTII, Linear Electronics, Acoustics and Audio Video Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Ramoji Academy of Film and Television and Amity University. He was also a fellow member of Asian Film Academy in Busan in South Korea.
Instructor – With experience spanning nearly a decade, Santosh Kumar has worked with organizations like GMT, MEdRC, 3rill Animation Studio and News18 ETV Network. He specialises in 2D Animation and has extensive software expertise. He has handled a variety of production including Animated Series, e-learning projects and Animated Political Toons
Assistant Professor – A gold medallist from the prestigious Federation of Indian Photography and a post-graduate from the coveted SRFTI in Kolkata, Sudipta Das has been a producer and a director and a cinematographer in multiple national and international projects. He has also been a media delegate with the United Nations. Sudipta has also had teaching stints as a guest faculty with Wigan & Leigh College, NSHM, ISB&M and many other institutions. He was also a member of a media delegation to the Honourable Vice President of India. Other than photography, his interests include reading books, travelling, watching films and listening to music.
